Il Genio is a pop band from Italy . It consists of Alessandra Contini (vocals, bass) and Gianluca De Rubertis (vocals, guitar).
biography
Both band members are originally from Lecce , but have been living in the northern Italian metropolis of Milan for some time . Initially, Alessandra Contini and Gianluca De Rubertis, who were friends from a young age, performed at private parties and finally achieved their musical breakthrough in 2008 with the piece Pop Porno . The song was first played by the radio station Radio Deejay .
Pop porn , kept in the style of the 1960s , with its components of Shibuya-kei and Easy Listening , helped the duo to become well known in Italy, not least because of its malicious text.
In 2008 the duo's first album, Il Genio , was also released. It first appeared on Disastro Records , and a short time later on Universal . The lyrics are mostly Italian with a few French exceptions.
