Radio DeeJay is an Italian radio station from Milan founded in 1982 . The station belongs to the media company Gruppo Editoriale L'Espresso and Discovery Italia .

history

The broadcast started on February 1, 1982 in Milan. The station was founded by Claudio Cecchetto as the successor to Radio Music 100 together with his partners Massimo Carpani, Pippo Ingrosso and Valerio Gallorini.

After the station was initially housed in an apartment in Via Franchetti , the station moved to its current location in Via Massena in Milan in 1984 .

At the beginning, the broadcaster concentrated on New Wave when choosing music . The first broadcast was an interview by Claudio Cecchetto with Larry Hagman (the villain from Dallas ), the first DJ were Ronnie Hanson (in English) and Gerry Scotti .

It soon received positive reviews from the regions of northern Italy where the program was broadcast. Radio Deejay achieved national fame thanks to the 80s television program DeeJay Television, which was also penned by Claudio Cecchetto. In 1988 the broadcast was extended to all of Italy under the name Deejay Network.

In 1989 the Gruppo Editoriale L'Espresso took over the station, merged it with Eleradio to form Erre DJ srl and took over shares in Cecchetto and Gallorini. In November 1994 the group then took over the remaining shares from Claudio Cecchetto, who was then very busy with his other project, Radio Capital - which was later also taken over by the Espresso Group. As a result, the group now has full ownership of all shares in Radio Deejay through its subsidiary Elemedia .

The well-known Italian DJ Linus has been the station's artistic director since 1996 .
