Ildikó Enyedi
Ildikó Enyedi [ ˈildikoː ˈɛɲɛdi ] (born November 15, 1955 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian film director and screenwriter .
Life and professional history
Enyedi first studied business administration, then film directing in Budapest and Montpellier. With her debut film My 20th century inspired them in 1989 critics and audiences at the film festival in Cannes and received the Caméra d'Or for best film. This film as well as her later great works, in particular Simon Magus and Magic Hunter (a variant of " Freischütz ") are characterized by their very own mixture of poetic lightness and melancholy.
For her fifth feature film Body and Soul , a romantic melodrama, Enyedi received the Golden Bear at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival in 2017 . The film was at the Oscar ceremony in 2018 as best foreign language film nominated. Body and soul describe the dangers of professional pragmatism, which prevents people in modern society from honestly perceiving their lives, Enyedi explained about the motifs of the film.
In 2017 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year. In the same year Enyedi was also invited to the competition jury of the 74th Venice International Film Festival .
She has been married to the German German scholar Wilhelm Droste, who lives in Hungary, since 1989 and has two children with him.
