The Ilgaz Dağları ( German " Ilgaz Mountains ": plural of " Dağ ", German " Mountain ") are a mountain range of the West Pontic Mountains in the provinces of Çankırı , Çorum and Kastamonu in northern Turkey .
The Ilgaz Dağları extend over a length of about 150 km in a west-east direction. The North Anatolian fault runs in the river valley of Devrez Çayı and Kızılırmak along the southern flank of the mountains. The northern slopes of the mountain range are drained by the rivers Soğanlı Çayı , Araç Çayı and Gökırmak . The mountain range reaches a maximum height of 2587 m in the Büyükhacet Tepe . The D765 trunk road ( Ilgaz - Kastamonu ) crosses the mountain range at the 1875 m high Ilgazdağı Pass . The 1088 hectare Ilgaz-Dağı National Park extends west of the pass road . There is also a winter sports area there .
