The West Pontic Mountains form the western part of the Pontic Mountains in the north of Asia Minor along the Black Sea coast .
The West Pontic Mountains extend over a length of 475 km between the rivers of the Sakarya (in the west) and the Kızılırmak (in the east). It consists of 2–3 parallel mountain ranges, separated from each other by river valleys and basin landscapes. The mountains drop steeply towards the Black Sea coast. Only in a few places does it leave room for the coastal plain. The mountain range consists of sandstone , limestone and metamorphic rock . In the basin of Zonguldak there are coal deposits . There is a humid climate on the mountain slopes facing the Black Sea. The lower and middle layers are covered with mountain forests. Subalpine vegetation grows from an altitude of 2000 m . The southern part of the West Pontic Mountains is forestless. In the lowlands and valleys, fruit is grown and wine, maize, rice, tobacco and other crops are grown.

- Küre Dağları (until 2019 m )
- Ilgaz Dağları (up to 2587 m )
- Köroğlu Dağları (up to 2399 m )
