The Illinois State Route 203 (in short IL 203 ) is a state highway in the US state of Illinois , the North-South direction runs in.
The State Route begins on Collinsville Road in Fairmont City and ends after 15 kilometers in Pontoon Beach on Interstate 270 .

About 500 meters after Collinsville Road, the road meets the route of Interstates 55 and 70 and US Highway 40 . The State Route passes the Gateway International Raceway to the west and then runs north and north-east from Madison . Illinois State Route 162 branches off south of Granite City . After IL 203 has passed Southwestern Illinois College west , it ends at I-270.
history
Between 1926 and 1930, the section between Granite City and what is now Interstate 270 was part of Route 66 . In addition, the Illinois State Route 203 was a section of Illinois State Route 3 until 1964 . The IL 203 originally ran to Hartford , but was shortened to I-270 a few years later.
