Illnath is a Danish black metal band that was founded in 1997 by Peter Falk and Jokum Thor Larsen . In the course of the band's history there have been some line-up changes, so that Peter Falk is the only original member today.
history
From 1997 to 2000 the band was still called Flagellation and released the demo Behind the Veil under this name . After the renaming in 2000, the promo MCD Angelic Voices Calling and a tour in the opening act of Illdisposed followed .
In 2002 the band signed a contract with the Japanese label World Chaos Productions and released their first album Cast Into Fields of Evil Pleasure there in 2003 . The second album, Second Skin of Harlequin , was released with a delay in a small edition and exclusively in Japan. That's why the band left the record label. A new album called Three Nights in the Sewers of Sodom was announced on November 18, 2007 and should actually be released on the Spanish label Deathlight Records. Although the recordings were already completed, the publication was not realized.
On January 23, 2011 the band announced on their Myspace page that singer Bjørn Holter was replaced by Mona Beck. For this reason, the album Three Nights in the Sewers of Sodom is to be re-recorded.
On November 18, 2011, the album Third Act in the Theater of Madness was released on Pitch Black Records.
Music genre
The music style is located in Melodic / Symphonic Black Metal, although the orientation was harder at the beginning. Today it is more oriented towards commercial dark metal and also contains influences from heavy metal . Illnath describes itself as a “majestic melodic metal band”, with influences ranging from Cradle of Filth to Children of Bodom and Gamma Ray . The new singer is referred to by the band as the Danish version of Angela Gossow ( Arch Enemy ).
