The Illustrierte Briefmarken-Journal (IBJ) was a philatelic magazine published by the Senf brothers .

history

The journal was first officially published on January 1, 1874 by H. Werninck & Comp. in Leipzig because Richard Senf (1856–1941) was not of legal age at the time. From issue no. 7 of July 1, 1874, the older brother Louis Senf (1853–1940), who was then already an adult, was the editor . From May 1, 1881, the two brothers published the magazine as Gebrüder Senf .

At first Alfred Moschkau was the editor, later it was for a long time Theodor Haas . The circulation was 5,000 at the end of the first half of 1884, 10,000 in 1886 and increased to 17,500 in 1891. The highest number of copies was 30,000. Decades before the First World War , it was the philatelic trade journal with the largest circulation in the German-speaking area. It was published fortnightly and at the beginning of the year. In 1914 it had 841 different editions. During the Second World War , the publication was stopped.
