Josef Pröbsting

Josef Pröbsting (born August 5, 1920 in Münster- Roxel ; † December 11, 1992 in Münster ) was a German poet and interpreter .

Life

In his parents' company, Pröbsting learned the glazing and painting trade as part of an apprenticeship. After completing his apprenticeship, he worked as a designer and painter at the Metropol Theater in Berlin . During the Second World War , Pröbsting served as a soldier in Poland , Russia and France . During the war he was taken prisoner in France and the USA . He worked as an interpreter for the US Army . After 1945, Pröbsting worked as a truck driver in the USA for a year. He then took over his parents' business in Münster- Roxel . He passed his master craftsman examination in 1949. In order to be able to start working as an interpreter for the Bundeswehr , he leased the family business. He acquired his teaching license at the Bundeswehr University in Bonn and Hamburg . In 1959 Pröbsting founded two private boarding schools in Münster-Roxel. The Roxel Citizens' Chapel was founded in 1960 on the initiative of Pröbsting. Since 1960 Pröbsting worked as an arbitrator , for which he was awarded in 1985 for 25 years of activity. In addition, Pröbsting was a member of the Münster City Council. For the CDU he was a member of the local community assembly from 1969 to 1974. Pröbsting was honored for special merits in the musical life of the city of Münster. He was also awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .

As a dialect and native poet , Pröbsting published poems in Low German . "My goal is to promote and preserve the Low German dialect," said Pröbsting, explaining his commitment to writing. In addition, Pröbsting made a home film in Super 8 format .

On December 11, 1992 Pröbsting died and was buried in the cemetery in Münster-Roxel.

The Heimat- und Kulturkreis Roxel eV organizes regular reading evenings in memory of Pröbsting.
