The Ilmen Mountains ( Russian Ильме́нские го́ры ) is a mountain range of the southern Urals in the Chelyabinsk Oblast .

The mountain range runs east of the main Ural ridge. The two cities of Miass and Tschebarkul are to the west and east at the foot of the Ilmen Mountains. The ridge extends about 30 km in a north-south direction. The river Miass flows along its western flank in a northerly direction, before it turns to the east at the northern end of the ridge and is dammed up to the Argasi reservoir . In Mount Ilmen (Ильментау) the ridge reaches a maximum height of 748  m . The Ilmen nature reserve extends over the Ilmen Mountains. The rocks of the Ilmen Mountains contain around 180 different minerals , including ilmenite , apatite , garnet and topaz . The mountain range is mainly covered with pine and birch .
