The Ilmor SRT X³ is a racing motorcycle for the MotoGP class of the motorcycle world championship according to the regulations of the 2007 season with 800 cm³ displacement. Mario Illien's company Ilmor is responsible for the development of the engine and Eskil Suter's company Suter Racing Technology (SRT) for the chassis. Harald Eckl , the then team manager of the Kawasaki Racing Team , was to be responsible for the management and the technical advice. However, before his racing debut, he was excluded from the project because of quarrels with his current employer, KHI . Since three executives were originally planned, the name X³ was chosen, which should stand for “Experience of three”.

The motor is designed as a V4 with a 75 ° opening angle and pneumatic valve suspension. The power is approximately 155 kW (211  hp ) at 18,000  min -1 . The chassis consists of a narrow doppelholmigen aluminum frame with a long swinging arm and Öhlins - forks and shock absorbers .

The machine debuted with rider Garry McCoy in the last two races of the 2006 season with wild cards of the FIM and finished 15th both times. This makes the Ilmor SRT X³ the first 800 cc machine in MotoGP history to score championship points could.

For the 2007 season , drivers Andrew Pitt and Jeremy McWilliams were committed. McWilliams broke his left leg in the last MotoGP tests in 2006 in Jerez , which meant he was unable to ride the 2007 preseason tests and all of the development work was on Pitt. McWilliams was also unable to take part in the first race in Qatar due to a training crash. For financial reasons - Mario Illien had already invested ten million euros in private assets in the project and a main sponsor could not be found - and due to technical problems, the team withdrew from the World Cup after the first race of the season.
