Ilse Behl (* 1937 in Bad Salzhausen ) is a German writer .

Life

Ilse Behl grew up in Salzhausen and initially completed an apprenticeship in rural housekeeping in order to work on her parents' farm. After studying at the Lower Saxony University of Education, she then worked as a primary and secondary school teacher. From 1980 Behl worked as a pedagogical assistant in the church service. At this point she began to work as a writer, and her first novel appeared a year later.

Her work includes youth novels, short stories, poetry, essays and texts on modern art. She also works for newspapers and gives readings. She is also active in the Friedrich-Bödecker-Kreis .

Ilse Behl is married and has two children. She lives in Kiel .
