Ilse Oberländer

Ilse Oberländer (born September 22, 1938 in Fraham , Upper Austria ; † April 10, 2003 in Wolfsberg , Carinthia ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

After attending primary and secondary school , Ilse Oberländer enjoyed an apprenticeship as a retail saleswoman . After the final apprenticeship examination, which she passed in 1956, she worked as a saleswoman for two years . In 1958 she retired into private life and worked as a housewife .

In 1985, Oberländer also went into politics when she moved into the Wolfsberg municipal council for the SPÖ . In 1991 she was appointed Social City Councilor, an office which she held until 1998. From 1998 she only acted as a simple councilor.

On April 19, 1994, she moved to Vienna as a member of the Federal Council . As Federal Councilor, Oberländer enjoyed one of the shortest terms of office, as she left the Austrian Chamber of States just one day later, on April 20, 1994.

As the women's chairwoman of the SPÖ in Lavanttal , Oberländer also made a strong contribution to the self-help group “Women after breast cancer”.
