Ilsetraut Hadot (2015)

Ilsetraut Hadot (* 20th December 1928 in Berlin as Ilsetraut Ludolff ) is a German-French philosopher and philosophy historian, referring to the Stoics , the Neo-Platonism and the ancient philosophy has specialized.

1966 Hadot with the dissertation was Seneca and the Greco-Roman tradition of spiritual direction at the Free University of Berlin Dr. phil. PhD. In 1977 she received her doctorate as Docteur ès lettres at the University of Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV).

In 1962 she met Pierre Hadot at a symposium in  Cologne and married him in 1966 in Berlin. He also specialized in ancient philosophy . In 2004 they wrote the book Apprendre à philosopher dans l'Antiquité together .

Awards

In 1978 Hadot won the Victor Cousin Prize of the Académie française and in 2015 the François-Millepierres Prize of the Académie française.
