Imamzade Jafar ( Persian امامزاده جعفر Emamsade Jafar , IPA : [ ɛmɑmzɑdɛ d͡ʒæfæɾ ]) is an Imamzade in Isfahan , Iran and isoppositethe religious Esmail complex . It is a 1325 building from the Ilchane era. Its importance goes back to the fact that it allegedly houses the tomb of Jafar ibn Abī Tālib , a companion of Mohammed . It was originally located in the middle of a large courtyard, but is now surrounded by residential buildings.
The mausoleum is hexagonal and short and was apparently originally spanned by a pyramidal dome . This was destroyed and another dome, like the Chalabioghlu mausoleum in Soltanije , was put on instead. The Imamzade is partially decorated with ceramic tiles .
