The Immanuel-Kant-Schule is a high school in Neumünster in Schleswig-Holstein . It bears the name of the philosopher Immanuel Kant . Since the 2006/2007 school year it has been participating in a program to promote talented students .

The Immanuel Kant School was founded in 1958. The teaching staff of 60 to 70 teachers teach about 800 students. Campaigns on the subject of “knowledge” are held regularly. The school has won the Daniel jet engine competition for seven years in a row . The school especially takes part in math and physics competitions. There is the Long Night of Mathematics and the Mathematics Olympiad , which is attended by more than 100 students every year.

With the amendment of the Schleswig-Holstein School Act and the newly created upper profile level , the first upper profile level with the subjects French, geography, art and physics was 'launched' at the Immanuel Kant School in the 2008/2009 school year. In the 2012/13 school year, a WiPo profile was also set up and sport was made possible as a fourth examination subject (two additional sport theory lessons per week).

After the completion of the new cafeteria in 2009, the demolition and reconstruction of the art wing followed, four new art rooms and eight modern classrooms with wooden floors and interactive boards have provided a good learning atmosphere since 2011. The old C-wing, a smaller classroom building, has also given way to a new building and was inaugurated in February 2012.

In 2008 the school celebrated its 50th anniversary. In the last week before the summer vacation, the children had no school because of the celebration week.

From the 2008/2009 school year, the school took part in the “LüttIng” project of the Schleswig-Holstein Innovation Foundation (I-SH for short). In this project, the 11th grade of the physics profile got involved in a guard robot project that ranged from the planning of an autonomous vehicle to the manufacture and the final product.

In the 2009/2010 school year, a “model for redesigning the teaching rhythm” was launched. The model includes the timing of the lessons in so-called "block hours" (2-hour lesson rhythm) in order to relieve the students and teachers of work and stress and thus strengthen the learning atmosphere. According to a survey in 2010, the model became everyday life and double hours became the norm.

Participation in the SHiB project of the state of Schleswig-Holstein is new: schools including support for gifted students. Since September 2011, a project group made up of teachers, parents and students has been working on a concept of how gifted and highly gifted students can be better discovered and promoted.
