Immortals is a rock song by the American rock band Fall Out Boy . It was produced in 2014 for the film Baymax - Huge Robowabohu by Walt Disney Animation Studios . The single version was released for download on October 14, 2014 by Walt Disney Records . On February 8, 2016, Immortals was awarded platinum by the RIAA for over one million units sold.

Background and composition

Disney asked the band to write and perform the song for a film sequence of the film Baymax and had a story explained by the producers.

On December 15, 2015, when the band's upcoming album American Beauty / American Psycho was made available for pre-order , it was announced that it would appear on track 10. On January 12, 2015, the six as-yet-unreleased songs from the album, including "Immortals", were made available for YouTube . A remix version features vocals from a member of The Roots and Black Thought and appeared on the remix album Make America Psycho Again.

Music video

A music video has been released with the song, which shows the four members of the band walking to a jukebox and choosing to play the single. The vinyl LP the song is played on is white and shows the face of Baymax.

A second music video for the band's album version was released on December 24, 2014. It consists of scenes from the film that were linked to Fall Out Boy performing live. It was released on the 10th day of "12 Days of FOB" where the band released exclusive videos, pictures or text.

Commercial win

During the week that ended November 29, 2014, over 25,000 downloads were sold and the song peaked at number 9 on the US Billboard Hot Rock Songs and later made it to number 96 on the Billboard Hot 100. March, the song hit the charts again at number 78 after Baymax received an Oscar . The following week the song peaked at 72nd place. The song went platinum for having sold over a million copies.
