Imperfection
An imperfection (from latin imperfectus , unfinished '; also Un prime ) is in the art and specifically in the static unwanted manufacturing -induced deviation of the components
- of the ideal shape ( geometric imperfection), e.g. B. the curvature or the inclination of a support , or
- behavior of the ideal material ( physical imperfection).
Imperfections can significantly influence the type of stress on technical components. In the case of compression bars or supports, as a result of the imperfections, bending moments occur in addition to the compression forces , which are of decisive importance in the resistance to buckling . The failure of plates and shells due to dents is also strongly influenced by the imperfections.
In calculation rules or standards, e.g. B. in DIN EN 1993-1-1 ( steel construction ) and DIN EN 1992-1-1 ( concrete construction ), the type and size of the imperfections are often specified, which must be taken into account in the calculation.
