Imperial is a kitchen appliance manufacturer with headquarters in Bünde / Westphalia and a branch in Arnsberg / Sauerland . The brand and production facilities have been part of the household appliance manufacturer Miele since 1989 , which used the Imperial brand until 2006 and continues to produce at the Bünde location. The former Imperial factories in Bünde and Arnsberg have a workforce of approx. 948 (approx. 690 in Bünde, approx. 258 in Arnsberg). Up until 2006, high-quality kitchen appliances were manufactured under the Imperial brand and have been produced under the Miele brand ever since .
history
The company was founded by C. H. Install in 1868 and manufactured ovens and cooking machines, among other things. The company traded under the name Imperial from 1934 . During the Second World War , the company manufactured bullets, but was able to maintain stove production. 500 people worked here during the war, including prisoners of war. In 1948 the company opened its own foundry called Karlshütte in the Ahle district of Graubünden. In 1970 Imperial invented the first ceramic hob in collaboration with Schott-Glaswerke . In 1976 the company supplied a large-scale cooking system for the palace of the Shah of Persia . The largest order from the company's commercial cooking department was to set up the Basra / Iraq airport in 1982. From 1983, pressure cookers were produced. The company has been part of the Miele Group since 1990, where it served as a premium brand until 2005. As of January 1, 2006, Imperial has no longer been run by Miele as an independent brand. However, production will continue and the products will be marketed under the Miele brand name . The product range includes gas and electric hobs, (pressure) steamers, warming drawers and extractor hoods .
