Inés Ayala Sender (born March 28, 1957 in Saragossa ) is a Spanish university professor and politician of the socialist party PSOE . She is a member of the European Parliament .

Inés Ayala studied from 1975 to 1982 Hispanic Studies and English Studies at the University of Zaragoza , where she also worked as a lecturer in Spanish literature from 1980 to 1990. From 1994 to 1995 she also studied law in Saragossa , and from 1995 to 1997 she completed postgraduate studies in sustainable development at the Université Libre de Bruxelles . From 2002 to 2004, I studied Spanish as a foreign language at the University of Alcalá .

Political career

After joining the PSOE , Ayala was a member of the executive committee of the party's regional association in Aragon from 1984 to 1985 , where she was responsible for women's issues. From 1989 to 1990 she coordinated the management of the PSOE-affiliated UGT union in Asturias , after which she was a social work officer in the UGT management throughout Spain until 1994. From 1990 to 1995 she chaired the working group of the Spanish Economic and Social Committee, which prepared a white paper on Spanish industry.

She also worked for the European Economic and Social Committee from 1990 to 1994 as an expert on the fight against social exclusion. From 1995 to 1997 she was an expert in the Directorate General for the Environment at the European Commission , then until 2004 political advisor to the Group of the Party of European Socialists (PES) in various committees and delegations of the European Parliament .

In the 2004 and 2009 European elections , Ayala was elected as a parliamentarian herself. It belongs to the Social Democratic fraction S & D , and is a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism and the Committee on Budgetary Control . From 2004 to 2009 she was also a member of the Petitions Committee . Since 2009 Ayala has been a member of the Committee on Budgetary Control , the Committee on Transport and Tourism and the Delegation for relations with the countries of Central America and the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean .
