history

In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland from 1888 a house with 15 inhabitants is given.

In the green is mentioned in the address book of the Lennep district from 1901. A quarry stone house in the village was called the canteen , as the workers from a nearby quarry ate lunch here. It was completed in 1890 for this very purpose, as an administration and residential building with walls up to 80 cm thick and stones from the quarry. At least that's what the year says on the doorstep. Horse stables were located in the basement of the house. Today the building is used exclusively for residential purposes and is privately owned, as is a large part of the street "In der Grüne".

Besides this building there are only four smaller houses in the street and a lot of forest and meadows. The attentive visitor can discover the remains of the terraced quarry above the Beyenburg - Oberbarmen cycle path.
