Scharpenstein is a location in the Wuppertal residential district of Beyenburg-Mitte in the Langerfeld-Beyenburg district .

Etymology and Geography

Scharpenstein means sharp stone in the sense of a steep rock . The name refers to the location at the foot of the steep mountain slope.

The location is at 200  m above sea level. NHN on the route of the Wuppertal Railway west of the former Beyenburg train station . In addition to the western part of Beyenburg, neighboring locations are the Beyenburger Lohmühle , In der Grüne , Beyenburger Brücke , Brückberg , Steinhaus , Siepenplatz and Mosblech . To the west is the Sondernbusch forest area .

history

In 1715, Erich Philipp Ploennies recorded the court as Scharpens in his work Topographia Ducatus Montani . On the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 the place is recorded as Scharpenstein and on the Prussian first survey of 1843 it is unlabelled.

In 1815/16 two residents lived in the village. In 1832 Scharpenstein was part of the Walbrecken Honschaft , which now belonged to the mayor's office in Lüttringhausen . According to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , the place called craftsmen's apartments had a residential building at that time. At that time, eleven residents lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant. In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland from 1888 a house with 15 inhabitants is given.
