action

Maria and her husband move back to the apartment of their father, who has suffered a stroke. The disabled man wishes to be cared for by his daughter. But Maria is overwhelmed with the situation. Her husband also does not recognize his wife's plight and exploits her rather than supporting her. When Maria receives anonymous calls, she begins to alienate herself from her family and their value system. Eventually, she starts a sexual relationship with a young man in the neighborhood and disconnects from her circle of friends. She begins to torment her father, who is at the mercy of his daughter. In her desperation, Maria grows further and further into a madness. The tragedy culminates in Maria killing her family.

The film premiered in 2004 at the Munich Film Festival in the “New German Cinema” series. At the 52nd International Film Festival in San Sebastian , the feature film was nominated for the “Montblanc Award for New Screenwriters” and the “New Director's Prize”. The film was also very well received at the film festivals in Seville in 2004 and in Goteborg in 2005. In 2009 the film was released on DVD by epix.
