Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chemnitz
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Chemnitz is the regional representation of interests of the trade and business people in the former administrative district Chemnitz and is divided into five regions (City of Chemnitz , District Central Saxony , Erzgebirgskreis , Vogtlandkreis and District Zwickau ).
history
The first Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded in Chemnitz on November 11, 1862 in the region of south-west Saxony . On November 27, 1862, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded in Plauen.
In August 1953 the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the German Democratic Republic was established . After the last industrial companies were nationalized in 1972, the chambers sank into insignificance. At the beginning of 1990, traders took the first steps to reorganize their entrepreneurial self-administration. After the legislative basis was created on March 1, 1990 with the “Ordinance on the re-establishment of the Chambers of Industry and Commerce”, the “ Chamber of Commerce and Industry South West Saxony Erzgebirge / Vogtland” was founded on April 21, 1990 . After the formation of regional chambers in Chemnitz, Plauen and Zwickau, the chamber was called "IHK Südwestsachsen Chemnitz Plauen Zwickau". Since March 1, 2010 the chamber has been called "IHK Chemnitz". On January 1, 2016, the Chamber of Commerce Chemnitz Region Central Saxony was renamed Chamber of Commerce Chemnitz Regional Chamber Central Saxony and the Chamber of Commerce Chemnitz Region Erzgebirge was renamed Chamber of Commerce Chemnitz Regional Chamber Erzgebirge.
Seat
The head office is in Chemnitz. There are regional representatives in the cities of Annaberg-Buchholz , Freiberg , Plauen and Zwickau .

Dieter Pfortner is the honorary president of the IHK Chemnitz. The main office is headed by General Manager Hans-Joachim Wunderlich. The IHK supports over 70,000 member companies in the chamber district.
