history

In 1833, Ludwig von Vincke, President of the Province of Westphalia, set up a culture and trade association in Siegen. According to the statutes, this private-law association was supposed to deal with questions of trade and commerce, but its work focused on agriculture.

By ordinance of February 11, 1848, chamber of commerce law was reorganized after the March Revolution in Prussia . Based on this regulation, 33 chambers of commerce were founded, including the Siegen Chamber of Commerce as one of the first.

The Siegen Chamber of Commerce was established with the highest decree of May 25, 1849, regarding the establishment of a chamber of commerce for the Siegen district. The chamber area corresponded to the district of Siegen . It initially consisted of 11 members (6 deputies were also elected in the election).

The members of the first chamber elected on August 7, 1849 were

The constituent session of the Chamber took place on October 15, 1849.

Since 1924 the chamber has been called the Siegen Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

On January 1, 1930, the chamber district was expanded to include the neighboring district of Olpe . On April 1, 1931, the Dillenburg district was also added. The three chambers IHK Siegen, Olpe and IHK Dillenburg merged to form the Siegen-Olpe-Dillenburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The chamber district now included the city of Siegen, the districts of Siegen and Olpe, the Dillkreis, the Oberwesterwaldkreis and most of the Biedenkopf district.

With the seizure of power by the Nazis in 1933 and the recent DC circuit of the chamber. The President of the Chamber and Chief Executive Officer were removed from their offices. The self-government of the economy was ended and the chamber was organized according to the Führer principle . In place of the elected plenary assembly, an advisory council appointed by the president took over.

In 1942 the Siegen-Olpe-Dillenburg Chamber of Commerce was dissolved and incorporated into the Westphalia-South Gauwirtschaftskammer. The district of the former IHK Dillenburg, however, came to the Gauwirtschaftskammer Hessen-Nassau.

After the Second World War , the Gau Chamber of Commerce was dissolved and the old IHKs were re-established. A state border now ran through the chamber district of the Siegen-Olpe-Dillenburg Chamber of Commerce. Therefore, an independent IHK Dillenburg was formed (which was merged into the IHK Lahn-Dill in 2008).
