Main industrial groups

The main industrial groups represent categories of the classification of economic activities commonly used in the European Union , known by the English abbreviation MIGS ( Main Industrial Groupings ). This classification is used for short- term statistics and is based on the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community (NACE). The definition of main industrial groupings was in the Regulation (EC) no. 1165/98 required and with the Regulation (EC) no. 586/2001 implemented. An adaptation to NACE v2 was made with Regulation (EC) No. 656/2007 .

The MIGS classification distinguishes the economic activities in those for intermediate goods , capital goods , consumer goods , consumer goods and energy .
