Ineni was a high ancient Egyptian official at the beginning of the 18th dynasty. His tenure began in the reign of Amenhotep I and ended at the beginning of the reign of the reigning Queen Hatshepsut . Ineni was mayor of Thebes and thus held one of the most important positions in the state. He is best known from his Theban grave ( TT81 ), which contains a longer biography that tells of his life.

Ineni's father was called Antef, his mother was Satdjehuty. He had several siblings, his sister Ta-Amethu was married to the vizier Ahmose Aametju . In addition to the office of mayor of Thebes, Ineni also held important positions in the Temple of Amun , he was also the head of the barn of Amun and head of the works in Ipet ( Karnak ). He probably started his career at the Temple of Amun. The latter title attests that he was responsible for numerous building projects of the early 18th dynasty, which he also describes in his biography. From his biography we learn that he had the tomb of King Thutmose I prepared in the Valley of the Kings . As a reward for his actions, he received the gold of honor .
