Inez Fung (2013)

Inez Y. Fung (born April 11, 1949 ) is an American climatologist and atmospheric scientist at the University of California, Berkeley .

Life

Fung earned a Bachelor of Science degree in applied mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1971 and received his PhD in meteorology in 1977.

In 2004 Fung received the Roger Revelle Medal from the American Geophysical Union . In 2001 she was elected to the National Academy of Sciences and in 2014 to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .

Act

Fung is one of the authors of the Third and Fourth Assessment Reports of the IPCC . In 2014 she was jointly responsible for the report Climate Change: Evidence and Causes with Eric Wolff .

Referring to forest fires in the western United States and floods in India, Fung expressed concern about the climate crisis in 2018 : “We are not prepared for it. Thirty years ago we predicted it in the models and now I feel it. I experience it. [...] I have to say that all the predictions made 30 years ago are still valid. The only thing we didn't expect [...] is that the CO 2 will rise much faster than we ever expected. "
