Infamous ( own spelling stylized as inFAMOUS ) is an action video game for the Playstation 3 . It was developed by Sucker Punch Productions and is distributed by Sony Computer Entertainment . It was published in May / June 2009. The name is made up of the English words "Famous" (= famous) and "Infamous" (= notorious), since the main character can act as a good or bad character.
action
The player controls the protagonist Cole MacGrath, a bicycle courier. At the beginning of the game, this is in the center of a huge explosion that destroys several parts of the street in the fictional Empire City. The explosion wreaks havoc throughout the city, while Cole suddenly has an electrical superpower. During the course of the game, in which Cole uses his new skills to bring order back to the city, the player is given the choice of using these powers in the interests of the community or for his own selfish purposes. These decisions have an impact on the character, his environment and other storylines.
criticism
The game was well received by the gaming press. Especially the special forces and Cole's climbing skills were praised. It received a score of 85 out of 100 on Metacritic.
Sequels
Infamous 2 from July 2011 builds on the plot of the first part. Depending on whether you played through the first part well or badly, you can choose at the start of the game from which end you want to continue the second part. In October 2011, the action-adventure Infamous: Festival of Blood was also released as an offshoot.
On March 21, 2014, the third part Infamous: Second Son was released for PlayStation 4 . The plot is detached from the previous parts. The main character Delsin has the ability to absorb other forces. Here, too, you can collect good or bad karma.
The game has been expanded with additional downloadable game content . The first additional downloadable game content appeared on August 27, 2014, the standalone DLC Infamous: First Light , which can also be purchased from the PlayStation Store without owning the main game. A Blu-Ray version of the standalone DLC Infamous: First Light was also released on September 10, 2014 .
