The Infinity Coaster (interpreting. Infinity roller coaster ) is a roller coaster of the German manufacturer Gerstlauer Amusement Rides .
technology
The Infinity Coaster is an independent further development of the Euro-Fighter model from Gerstlauer Amusement Rides and is built as a steel roller coaster with a pyramid-shaped rail profile. The start takes place via a linear synchronous motor (LSM) . Slopes are mastered using a chain lift. There are variants with individual vehicles for 8 passengers up to trains for 32 passengers. Speeds of over 130 km / h can be achieved.

In the standard variant, the passengers are secured with hydraulic lap bars. These are continuously adjustable and are suitable for people who are 1.25 m tall or more. An automatic shackle closure or a shoulder shackle system can be selected as options.
The Infinity Coaster has a magnetic backstop system to lower the vehicles backwards in the event of a power failure.

The manufacturer has also set several records with this type. Thus, The Smiler in Alton Towers the roller coaster with the most inversions , it was also the first Infinity coaster in the world. The 73 meter high Oath of Kärnan in Hansa-Park is together with Silver Star in Europa-Park the highest roller coaster in Germany.
Accident on June 2, 2015
On June 2, 2015, there was a serious accident on The Smiler train . An occupied car crashed into an empty one without braking. 16 people were injured, some seriously. According to the investigation, the cause of the accident was human error. It was not put back into operation until the following season on March 19, 2016.
