Walibi Rhône-Alpes is an amusement park in Les Avenières near Lyon . It belongs to the Walibi Group , which has belonged to the French park chain Grévin & Cie since 2006 . The name "Walibi" is derived from the first letters of the surrounding communities Wavre , Limal and Bierges in Belgium .
history
The park opened as Avenir Land in 1979 and was taken over by Walibi in 1989. In 1997 the park belonging to the Walibi group was taken over by the Six Flags group , which withdrew completely from the European market in 2005. The Walibi group was first sold to Star Parks and finally to the French park chain Grévin & Cie , to which Parc Astérix also belongs. The park's internal water park “Aqualibi” is one of the park's latest extensions , for which a former wild water slide had to make way.

Aqualibi water park
The park's own water park has a size of around 13,000 m² and a year-round water temperature of 25 ° C. The water park includes a wave pool and numerous water slides.
