The information and documentation center for anti-racism work e. V. ( IDA ) was founded in 1990 by democratic youth associations in Germany to take a stand against racism . Today, 30 associations are members of the IDA, including member organizations of the German Federal Youth Association , the Ring of Political Youth , the German Sports Youth , the DIDF Youth, the Association of Alevi Youth in Germany , the DJR-German Youth from Russia and the Mach mein Kumpel association not on! .

Goal setting

The information and documentation center for anti-racism work e. V. (IDA) serves youth associations, clubs, initiatives and multipliers in youth and educational work as a nationwide central contact point for the search for materials, information, speakers and advice on the topics:

IDA provides information about anti-racist and intercultural methods, concepts, approaches, initiates projects in youth education work and promotes networking among those active in the subject area. IDA is a service center with the areas of information, documentation, advice, qualification, cooperation, networking and public relations.

State project

The state project IDA-NRW has been affiliated to the association since 1994. In addition to the regional focus on North Rhine-Westphalia, IDA-NRW's website is particularly noteworthy. This offers detailed and comprehensive information on right-wing extremism, interculturality and discrimination.

Focus of work

The main focuses of the IDA are:

  • Information, documentation and advisory work
  • Publication of directories, e.g. B. on speakers, films, videos, educational and teaching materials
  • Creation of readers and flyers for multipliers in youth and educational work, e.g. B. on tolerance, integration , training, gender mainstreaming , international youth encounters
  • Creation of a regularly appearing "Infomail" with current information from youth associations and anti-racism work
  • Organization of specialist conferences, workshops and training
  • Implementation of qualification measures for active young members of migrant youth organizations (MJSO) on topics that are relevant to the work of the association and the support of migrant youth organizations in setting up effective association structures

Science and networking

IDA forms an interface between science and research and practical youth and educational work.

IDA is represented in nationwide networks and cooperates with other organizations at events or prepares them for others.

IDA is a non-profit association whose board consists of representatives from the member associations.

Diversity Mediathek - educational media against right-wing extremism, misanthropy and violence

The Diversity Media Center was a joint project of the Information and Documentation Center for Anti-Racism Work (IDA) e. V. and the DGB Bildungswerk. From 2018 IDA e. V. sole sponsor of the project, which operates an information portal on which multipliers of school and extracurricular educational work and committed citizens can download educational material on the following topics free of charge:

  • Prevention and intervention in right-wing extremism, racism, anti-Semitism, anti-Muslim racism as well as homophobia and transphobia
  • Intercultural learning in organizations, on the job market, in administration, schools, etc.
  • Diversity
  • Democracy education
  • Migration and Migration History
  • Escape / asylum
  • Religious fundamentalism

All materials were created through the funding of the federal program “Live Democracy!” Or its predecessor programs. The range of registered print and audiovisual media in the Diversity Media Center is large; it currently contains over 2300 publications. The inventory includes reports of events, (project) documentation, teaching materials, training folders, short and documentary films, websites, poster collections and much more.
