Ring of political youth
Ring political youth (RpJ) is the name of several amalgamations of party political youth associations in Germany at the federal, state or municipal level. Members of the Federal RpJ are: Young Union ( union parties ), Jusos ( SPD ), Young Liberals ( FDP ), Green Youth ( Greens ) and the Young Democrats / Young Left ( non-party ). In the federal states and at the local level there are sometimes different compositions. B. the Jungbayernbund , the youth organization of the Bavarian party or the "Young Free Voters" as a youth organization of the regional association of Free Voters , member of the Bavarian RpJ. In some federal states the linksjugend ['solid] , the youth association close to the Left Party , is a member of the RpJ. Even the young democrats / young left are not represented in the RpJ in all federal states.
tasks
The youth organizations of the democratic parties that have come together in the Ring of Political Youth see their main task in the education of young people to become free citizens, which in their opinion represents one of the most important tasks of a democratic state. The Ring of Political Youth sees further tasks in interest young citizens in political matters, to educate them politically and to point out their civic responsibility as well as to involve people in active, responsible political participation. Another goal of the RpJ is to promote democratic youth structures.
Funding controversy
One of the functions of the RpJ at the federal level was the distribution of funds made available for political youth education among its members. In 2006, the Young Socialists and Young Union received around 300,000 euros each, the youth organizations of the FDP and the Greens around 100,000 euros each. There were some disputes about the admission of new members, in particular regarding the admission applications of the green youth organizations and the admission of the PDS-affiliated association. In December 2007 an application for membership of the new youth structure ['solid] of the party Die Linke was rejected. Linksjugend 'solid tried to sue for funding and was initially successful before the administrative court. In March 2012, the lawsuit failed before the Berlin-Brandenburg Higher Administrative Court, which stated in its judgment that the previous funding was not based on an adequate legal basis. The new regulation necessary for all youth organizations was implemented by an amendment to Section 83 of Book Eight of the Social Code (SGB VIII).
International youth work
The RpJ is one of the three pillars of the German National Committee for International Youth Work (DNK) , along with the German Sports Youth and the German Federal Youth Council . In addition, each member organization of the RpJ has its own international work with its own European and international partners.
