Infotec was a provider of duplicating and printing systems as well as document management solutions with its headquarters in London .

It was represented in Great Britain , the Netherlands , Belgium , France , Spain , Switzerland , Italy and Germany through a direct organization and also in all European countries through specialist dealers. Infotec is both a company name and a product name. Infotec Deutschland GmbH is headquartered in Stuttgart-Wangen and has around 400 employees nationwide (as of 2009).

The company, founded in 1972, achieved sales of 430 million euros in 2006 with a total of around 2900 employees. On February 1, 2007, Ricoh took over the European business for 210 million US dollars .

With effect from April 1, 2010, Ricoh Germany stopped selling the Infotec trademark.

Infotec's tradition in the copier sector goes back to 1923. That year the chemist Dr. Wilhelm Kalle ( Kalle AG ) from Wiesbaden as the first dry tracing paper on the market. In 1972 Kalle AG was taken over by Hoechst AG in Frankfurt and Infotec was founded in the information technology division. The Europe-wide distribution of photocopiers was started. In 1974 Infotec introduced the Infotec 6000 fax machine, the first digital fax machine to the European fax market. The technology of the Infotec 6000 was the basis for the Group 3 standard that is still valid today. In 1987 the first digital copier Infotec 5020 was introduced.

In 1990 Infotec was sold by Hoechst AG to the Dutch HCS Technology NV. In 1995, the American company Danka took over Infotec. A year later, the Office Imaging division was taken over by Kodak , bringing a lot of know-how in the high-volume production area into the company. At the end of 2006 Danka decided to withdraw from Europe and in 2007 Infotec was sold to Ricoh Europe BV . In mid-2009 Infotec Deutschland GmbH and parts of Infotec International BV were integrated into Ricoh Deutschland GmbH.

Ricoh has been a long-term partner of Infotec and has been manufacturing products under the Infotec brand for decades .

Sponsorship

From 1981 to 1984 Infotec was the shirt sponsor of the Bundesliga soccer team at Eintracht Frankfurt . During Danka's time the English Premier League club Everton FC were sponsored from 1995 to 1997 and the British Formula 1 team Arrows from 1996 to 1998.

Infotec supported the African Medical and Research Foundation / Flying Doctors, an aid organization dedicated to the fight against AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis in Africa.
