Infruset is the sixth studio album by the Swedish band Mando Diao , produced by Björn Olsson , and the first album in their native Swedish.
In 2011, Gustaf Norén was asked to set one of his works to music on the 100th anniversary of the death of the Swedish poet Gustaf Fröding . Frödings poetry tells stories of the beauty of nature, of love and the challenges of life. The beauty and honesty of his lyrics and his eccentric and self-destructive lifestyle impressed the whole band, and so a whole album was created, consisting of ten poems set to music.
Björn Dixgård and Gustaf Norén selected ten poems from the poet's extensive work; the songs were recorded in an old barn in the solitude that has been converted into a studio. The recordings were finished after just a few days.
The songs are slow and melancholy ballads, a very different kind of music than what one is used to from the Swedish rock band. Acoustic guitars and piano are used as main instruments; Bass, drums and strings provide a calm, gentle accompaniment. In the foreground are the voices of the two singers, which emphasize and underline the melancholy mood of the lyrics.
Linnéa Dixgård, the sister of Björn Dixgård and singer of the Swedish group “Twinflower Band”, sings the song “Titania”.
On October 28, 2012, the first public performance of the album took place in the form of a live broadcast of a documentary and biography film "Infruset" in cinemas and theaters in Sweden, Germany and Switzerland. The premiere consisted of two parts - a film biography of the poet Fröding and the live performance of the album.
“Infruset” became an instant success in Sweden; Within the first week of its release, the album reached number one in the Swedish charts and gold status in terms of sales. It is also the band's first album to hit the Norwegian charts.
