Inge Buisson

Inge Buisson , b. Wolff (* 1921 ) is a German historian .

Inge Wolff received her doctorate in 1954 from the University of Hamburg on the history of the emancipation of the General Capitanate of Chile . In 1967 her habilitation took place with a basic presentation on the government and administration of the colonial cities in Upper Peru from 1538 to 1650 . Her academic teacher was Egmont Zechlin . In Hamburg she was a senior scientific adviser and in 1970 became a professor of Latin American history. She was the first female professor in the history seminar in Hamburg. Buisson dealt with both Western European and Latin American history. Buisson's publications on the Viceroyalty of Peru and the independence movements in Latin America made Hamburg one of the first universities in Germany, alongside Cologne and Berlin, to conduct research on Latin American history. In 1980 she published a standard work with the history of the independence movements in Latin America 1788-1826 . Buisson's successor as professor of Latin American history was Horst Pietschmann in 1984 .

She was married to the historian Ludwig Buisson .
