Inge Klaan

Inge Karoline Klaan (born January 8, 1965 in Lutter im Eichsfeld as Inge Karoline Kanngießer ) is a German local politician ( CDU ) and was State Secretary in the Thuringian Ministry of Building, Regional Development and Transport from 2012 to 2014 .

Life

Inge Klaan passed her Abitur in Heiligenstadt in 1983 and studied from 1984 to 1989 at the Technical University of Leipzig (Dipl.-Ing. For civil engineering). In 1989 she went to Nordhausen am Harz and became deputy city planning director. From 1990 to 1995 she was Head of Urban Redevelopment and Construction Management, and from 1995 to 2006 she headed the Urban Planning Office. Among other things, she was responsible for the planning of the Nordhausen State Garden Show in 2004 . Subsequently, she was the department head for construction, economy and environment as well as full-time councilor of the city of Nordhausen. She has been a member of the CDU since 2005. Before that, she was a member of the DBD , for which she ran in 1990 at number 1 for the district council.

From March 1, 2012 she was State Secretary in the Thuringian Ministry of Building, Regional Development and Transport (successor to Marion Eich-Born ).

In November 2013 she was elected as a direct candidate for the CDU in the constituency of Nordhausen II . In the state election in September 2014, she lost to Katja Mitteldorf ( Die Linke ) with 31.3 percent. When the Ramelow I cabinet was sworn in on December 5, 2014, she resigned as State Secretary.

Since August 1st, 2015, Klaan has been the managing director of the municipal housing association (SWG) in Nordhausen.

In April 2017 she announced her candidacy for the office of Lord Mayor of Nordhausen. In the election on September 10, 2017, she received the most votes with 35 percent, but missed the required absolute majority. In the runoff election that took place on September 24, 2017, she was ultimately defeated by the non-party candidate Kai Buchmann with 33.8 percent.

Klaan belongs to the Catholic Church , is married, has two children and lives in Nordhausen.
