Kai Buchmann (politician)
Kai Buchmann (born March 16, 1976 in Nordhausen ) is a German local politician ( independent ) and has been Lord Mayor of Nordhausen am Harz since October 2017 .
Life
Buchmann completed his Abitur at the Humboldt-Gymnasium Nordhausen and after completing his military service learned the profession of banker at the Kreissparkasse Nordhausen . He then studied business administration and intercultural management in Jena. From 2005 Buchmann worked as a project manager and in 2013 he went to the Südharz Klinikum Nordhausen as a management consultant .
From 2009 to 2016 Buchmann was a knowledgeable citizen in the Nordhäuser Finance Committee. For the local elections in Thuringia in 2009 and 2014 , Buchmann was a candidate for the district council and city council on the list of Alliance 90 / The Greens , but missed the entry. After the Fukushima nuclear disaster , he joined the Green Party in 2011 and was elected as an assessor on the district executive in March 2016. When Germany's nuclear phase-out was decided, according to Buchmann, the reason for his membership no longer applies and he resigned from the party in autumn 2016.
In June 2017, he announced his candidacy as an independent individual candidate for the office of Lord Mayor of Nordhausen. The previous Lord Mayor Klaus Zeh (CDU) resigned at the beginning of 2017 for health reasons; the alderman Jutta Krauth (SPD) carried out the official business on a provisional basis. In the election on September 10, 2017, Buchmann achieved 29.1 percent (4,530 votes) and came second. In the runoff election that took place on September 24, 2017, he prevailed against Inge Klaan (CDU) with 66.2 percent of the vote. On October 9, 2017, he took up the post of Lord Mayor and took the oath of office on October 18, 2017.
In March 2019, Buchmann founded the "Bürgerliste Südharz" (BLS) as a free electoral association with another 15 active members . In the local elections in Thuringia in May 2019, he and two other BLS candidates made it into the district council of the Nordhausen district .
Buchmann is the father of two children and lives in Nordhausen.
