Ingeborg Falck

Ingeborg Falck (born May 2, 1922 in Berlin , † September 7, 2005 in Wiesbaden ) was a German doctor, professor and scientist specializing in internal medicine and geriatrics in Berlin and the recipient of the Paracelsus Medal of the German medical profession.

Life

Ingeborg Falck was born as the daughter of Carl Falck , the administrative lawyer and chief president of the province of Saxony . In 1940 she graduated from high school for girls in Berlin-Lichterfelde . In the same year she began her medical studies at what was then Friedrich Wilhelm University . She passed the state examination in 1944 and received her doctorate in March 1945 as Dr. med. with the topic "The Collum carcinoma depending on contraceptives".

After completing her training, she received certification as a specialist in internal medicine in May 1951 . As early as June 1955 , Ingeborg Falck completed his habilitation at the Humboldt University in internal medicine. In 1961 she was appointed professor with a teaching position there and was also clinically active there until October 1961. From November 1961 to February 1963 she was a doctor at the Medical Clinic of the Free University of Berlin . From February 1963, until her retirement in 1987, Ingeborg Falck was chief physician at the Städtisches Bürgerhospital (later: Max-Bürger-Haus) in Berlin-Wilmersdorf. In 1968 she finally moved to the Medical Faculty of the FU and was appointed adjunct professor, in 1986 she was given the position of C3 professor for geriatrics.

Ingeborg Falck was not only active in medicine, but also scientifically. Clinical geriatrics in Germany was significantly shaped by them. In 1977 she became Vice President, and from 1984 to 1987 she was President of the German Society for Gerontology . She represented this professional society for many years as a delegate in the Working Group of Scientific Medical Societies in Germany (AWMF). In 1978 she became a Council Member of the European Clinical Section of Clinical Gerontology. From 1983 to 1986 Ingeborg Falck was a member of the commission for the 4th Family Quete of the then Federal Ministry for Youth, Family and Health.

Ingeborg Falck was particularly interested in the topic of "Women in Healthcare". She chaired the Berlin regional association of the German Medical Association for twenty years , and was vice-president of the federal organization for several years.

In 2001 the German Medical Association awarded her the Paracelsus Medal of the German Medical Association.

Ingeborg Falck died in 2005. Her grave is in the south-west cemetery in Stahnsdorf .
