Ingeborg Handschick

Ingeborg Handschick (born January 14, 1930 in Zittau ; † April 1, 2011 ) was a German author.

Life

After graduating from secondary school, she completed an apprenticeship as a pattern designer at the Zittau weaving school from 1945. She entered the school service as a new teacher in 1949 and began a distance learning course at the University of Education a little later. After graduating, she worked as a specialist teacher for German and sport at the Extended Oberschule Zittau from 1952. Between 1972 and 1975 another distance learning course followed at the literature institute "Johannes R. Becher" in Leipzig. At EOS Zittau, Inge Handschick headed the “Writing Students” and “Written Word” circles. After leaving school in 1989, she devoted herself to her literary work.

Inge Handschick has been the editor and co-author of the Oberlausitz family calendar book since 1993, The year is a good friend to us . Most recently she worked on the 20th edition of the family calendar for 2012 and on an anthology with the working title At home near the mountains until her death .

The content of her literary work was the way of life and dialect of the people in Upper Lusatia as well as the beauty of nature. On August 19, 2010, Handschick was awarded the Saxon Order of Merit as the leading representative of Upper Lusatian fiction .

She was married and had two children.
