Ingeborg Lohfink

Ingeborg Lohfink (born April 26, 1931 in Greifswald ) is a German writer , poet and publicist . Her work particularly includes historical works and novels with a local reference to the Western Pomerania region .

Life

Ingeborg Lohfink was born in Greifswald in 1931 and initially completed an apprenticeship as a wholesale clerk after attending school . After a corresponding further training, she later worked as a medical-technical X-ray assistant . She has been a writer and journalist since 1979 and has published eleven books to date. For her work she received the Johann Heinrich Voss Medal in gold, the Ernst Moritz Arndt Medal and the Medal of Honor of the Hanseatic City of Greifswald, among others .

Since 1974 she has also been active in animal welfare on a voluntary basis . In March 1990 she founded the Vorpommern Animal Welfare Association and in February 1992 a cat house on the site of the decommissioned Lubmin nuclear power plant near Greifswald . From July 1992 to March 1999 she was a member of the Animal Welfare Advisory Board of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Ministry of Agriculture .
