Ingo Autenrieth

Ingo B. Autenrieth (born August 10, 1962 in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt ) is a German doctor. He is the Chief Medical Director and Chairman of the Board of Management of Heidelberg University Hospital .

education

Ingo Autenrieth studied medicine at the Universities of Ulm and Dundee from 1982 to 1989 . After receiving his doctorate in Ulm, he completed his specialist training at the Institute for Hygiene and Microbiology at the University of Würzburg .

Professional background

After completing his habilitation in Würzburg, he worked as a visiting scientist at the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research in 1995 , and in 1996 he accepted the call to the LMU Munich as Professor of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene.

From 2000 to 2020 he held the Chair of Medical Microbiology at the University of Tübingen and since 2006 has also held the position of Dean of the Medical Faculty. In 2007 he also took over the chairmanship of the Interfaculty Institute for Microbiology and Infection Medicine Tübingen (IMIT).

In 2020 Ingo Autenrieth moved to Heidelberg University Hospital . Since April 1, 2020, he has held the office of Chief Medical Director and Chairman of the Board of Management.

Autenrieth is Vice President of the Medical Faculty Conference and a member of the Medical Committee of the Science Council and the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF). He is also active on the University Council of the University of Augsburg.

Autenrieth played a leading role in numerous DFG and BMBF-funded research alliances, most recently in 2019 as co-spokesman in the DFG-funded NGS Competence Center Tübingen (NCCT) and in the CMFI excellence cluster "Control of microorganisms to combat infections" at the University of Tübingen.

Together with CeGaT GmbH and Professors Daniel Huson and Detlef Weigel , Autenrieth is the founder of CeMeT (Center for Metagenomics), a microbiome company that deals with the metagenomic determination, analysis and evaluation of the microbiome using the latest technology.

Clinical focus

Autenrieth is a specialist in microbiology , virology and infection epidemiology . His clinical-scientific focus is on new diagnostic methods, antibiotic resistance and microbiological analysis.
