Ingrid Fuzjko Hemming

Ingrid Fujiko Hemming , also Fujiko Hemming イ ン グ リ ッ ト ・ フ ジ コ ・ ヘ ミ ン グ , Japanese name 大 月 フ ジ コ (born December 5, 1932 in Berlin ) is a Swedish classical pianist .

Life and education

Born on December 5, 1932 in Berlin to a Japanese mother and a Swedish-Russian father, but trained in Japan, Hemming began learning to play the piano from her mother at an early age. From the age of 10 she took lessons from Leonid Kreutzer and gave her first concert at the age of 17.

She went to Aoyama Gakuin School from elementary school to high school . She then graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and began her professional career. Hemming earned many honors during this period, including the NHK-Mainichi Music Concours and the Bunka Radio Broadcasting Company Music Prize. At the age of 28 she went to Berlin to the Royal Music Institute in Berlin for further training.

During a concert in Vienna in 1971 she lost her hearing in one ear due to a fever attack. She moved back to Stockholm to receive medical treatment there. She then gave many concerts in Europe before returning to Japan in 1995.

A documentary broadcast in 1999 aroused interest in their music. Her next CD, La Campanella , sold two million copies.

In 2001, Hemming played at Carnegie Hall in New York . On June 9, 2016, she gave a concert at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center, Grand Hall in Yūbin-bangō, Japan.

Recordings

In 2008 she was recognized by Domo Records for her worldwide commitment. In June 2009 Domo Records released five titles from their repertoire in the United States , including Echoes Of Eternity , La Campanella , Nocturnes Of Melancholy , Live At Carnegie Hall , and Liszt's 1st Piano Concerto .

Four of her CDs have won the Classical Album of the Year award at the Japan Gold Disc Awards. (in 2001: Nocturnes Melancholy by Victor Entertainment)

In 2009 "Ingrid Fujiko Hemming - The Piano Works" was published.
