Kene Holliday

Kenneth Earl "Kene" Holliday (pronounced Kenny Holliday ; * 25. June 1949 in Copiague , New York ) is an American film - and theater - actor . He has been active since the 1970s in numerous television series and - filming , mostly in crime - Genre with. His best known role is that of Tyler Hudson in the crime series Matlock .

Life

Holliday grew up in Copiague. His parents were Baptists . When Holliday was twelve years old, his father died. In 1967 he graduated from high school and began studying at the University of Maryland . It was here that his interest in acting awoke. In 1969 he played there in Eugene O'Neill's The Hairy Ape , becoming the first African American to play a leading role on the main university stage. After graduating, he took on theater roles at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC , where he also led workshops. In 1975 he was released because of alcohol and drug problems. In the following two years he was still able to appear in David Rabe's off-Broadway drama Streamers .

Holliday had his first television role in 1971, but it wasn't until 1976 that he started working regularly in front of the camera. In 1977 he got his first major role in the comedy series Carter Country , in which he impersonated the police officer Curtis Baker in all 44 episodes. Guest appearances in several television series and roles in television films followed. In 1984 he made his cinema debut in The Philadelphia Experiment . In 1986 he got another lead role in the television series Matlock . During the 3rd season of 1989 his work was again severely affected by his alcohol and drug addiction. He went to rehab and did not participate in the series.

Holliday has been married to Linda Copling for the third time since 1996. His two previous marriages each had a child. After his marriage to Linda Copling, he worked as an evangelist for several years .
