Ingrid Körner

Ingrid Körner (* 1946 in Hamburg ) has been Senate Coordinator for Equal Opportunities for Disabled People in Hamburg since 2011.

Life

From 1970 to 1981 she was a teacher at elementary, secondary and secondary schools in Hamburg. Due to her personal experience as the mother of a daughter with Down syndrome , she has been committed to people with disabilities since the 1980s. Since 1984 she has been on the board of the Hamburg regional association of Lebenshilfe for people with intellectual disabilities. V. For 25 years she was committed to the Federal Association for Life Aid , of which 20 years on the board and 12 years as deputy federal chairwoman.

In 1992 Ingrid Körner co-founded the Hamburg work assistant , (→ Arbeitsassistent ) a specialist service for the professional integration of people with disabilities, and was chairwoman of the supervisory board there. From 1995 to 2006 she was a member of the supervisory board of the Hamburger Berufsförderungswerk and from 1994 to 2004 she was a member of the advisory board of the Hamburger Volkshochschule .

In 2001, Körner was chairman of the spokesperson's council for German Disability Aid, from 2006 to 2010 she was president of Inclusion Europe, the European umbrella organization for people with disabilities, and since 2009 she has also been a member of the executive board of the European Disability Forum (EDF).

On July 6, 2011, the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg appointed her Senate Coordinator for Equal Opportunities for Disabled People in Hamburg. The function of this task is to act as a mediator between citizens and administration from an independent position. She is available as a contact person for disabled people and their associations and should pursue their concerns. She has the right to intervene directly in advising on individual cases of fundamental importance and great urgency.

On September 22nd, 2012 she was made an honorary member of the Federal Association for Life Aid.

She is married to Hellmut Körner and has four children.
