Ingrid Neumann-Holzschuh

Ingrid Neumann-Holzschuh (born October 25, 1953 in Osterode am Harz ) is a German Romance studies and professor of Romance linguistics (French and Spanish) at the University of Regensburg .

Life

Ingrid Neumann-Holzschuh studied Romance and English in Cologne, Kiel and Tours. After studying and doing a doctorate, she worked as an academic adviser at the University of Bamberg, where she qualified as a professor in 1993 . From 1993 to 1995 she was a professor at the Catholic University of Eichstätt. In 1995 she was appointed Professor of Romance Linguistics at the University of Regensburg. From 2005 to 2007 she was dean of the Philosophical Faculty IV, from 2007 to 2009 a member of the Senate of the University of Regensburg and a member of the University Council. From 2009 to 2011 she was Vice Rector for International Affairs, Public Relations, Alumni and Fundraising at the University of Regensburg. She was also active as a senator, university councilor and dean in academic self-government.

After the summer semester of 2019, Neumann-Holzschuh retired.

Neumann-Holzschuh was awarded the University's Badge of Honor at the Dies Academicus 2019 of the University of Regensburg.

research

Ingrid Neumann-Holzschuh's research focuses on the following areas: French Creole languages ​​(especially Louisiana), the varieties of French in North America, Spanish in the USA, internal and external history of Spanish, language contact, language change. Current research project: Grammaire comparée des parlers acadiens et du cadien louisianais (GrACoPAC). I. Neumann-Holzschuh was the editor of the interdisciplinary journal for Canadian studies from 2005 to 2011.

Teaching

Teaching focuses on French and Spanish variety linguistics, French and Spanish language history, Romance Creole languages, structures of French and Spanish in diachrony and synchrony, language change, gender studies.
