Ingrid Olbricht

Ingrid Olbricht (born March 27, 1935 in Frankfurt am Main ; † January 4, 2005 in Kaitaia , New Zealand ) was a German doctor , specialist in neurology and psychiatry and author. She developed the TRIMB® psychotraumatological treatment method. She is described as one of the pioneers of trauma therapy in Germany.

Life

Ingrid Olbricht studied medicine at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main from 1955/56 to 1958 . After a family time, she resumed studying at the Philipps University in Marburg in 1966 . In 1972 she passed the medical examination there. After her time as a medical assistant in Marburg, she was granted a license to practice medicine in 1973 . It was with a dissertation on "The validity of the plate thermography compared with the clinical and mammographic examination" (1975) PhD . In 1979 she completed her training as a specialist in neurology and psychiatry at the University Neurological Clinic in Marburg. From 1979 to 2000, Olbricht was first senior physician and later chief physician in the psychosomatic / psychotherapy department at the Wicker Clinic in Bad Wildungen , where, among other things, she particularly campaigned for suitable treatments for female victims of sexual violence.

In 1981, Olbricht organized the first workshop of the Wildunger Arbeitskreis für Psychotherapie (WAP) and later also became the first chairwoman of the association of the same name founded in 1985. In 1987 she set up the first therapy groups for sexually traumatized women and in 1993 she was among other things co-founder and founding director of the working group Women's Health in Medicine, Psychotherapy and Society (AKF).

Ingrid Olbricht developed the psychotherapy method Trauma Recapitulation with Imagination, Motion and Breath (TRIMB®), which she discovered in a Central American indigenous culture and which she developed further for trauma therapy.
