Life

Ingrid von Kruse, born in Hamburg in 1935, studied graphics , painting and textile design at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts from 1954 to 1958 . She then worked for many years as a freelance designer for various textile companies and took a teaching position at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Mönchengladbach.

From 1978 to 1981 she studied photography at the University of Essen with professors Inge Oswald and Erich vom Endt . Since then she has been working exclusively as a freelance photographer, increasingly turning to portraits. Her first exhibitions showed views of Rome, Sicily, Venice or the Nolde landscape. Portrait photography has been the focus since 1984, not least because of a large commissioned portrait work for the Max Planck Society in Munich.

In 1985 the Augustinermuseum in Freiburg showed her work under the title “Personalities of Our Time”, in 1988 the exhibition “Time and Moment: Photo Portraits” went through many German museums and was also reflected in an illustrated book of the same name. Ingrid von Kruse is regularly represented at representative exhibitions on European or German photographic art at home and abroad. Her work is part of the collection of Preußischer Kulturbesitz in Berlin as well as other public and private collections.

In 1992 Europe was published literally, a portrait, accompanied by an exhibition through Europe and the USA. Four years later her book Venice - Voices between Stone and Sea was published with the accompanying exhibition in the "Casa di Goethe" in Rome. In 2000 Dasein-In, A Zen Temple of the 16th Century in Kyoto, was published . In 2004 she published her book Magische Rosse , the accompanying exhibition was shown in 2006 at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg and in the Staatliche Antikensammlungen in Munich. Her book Eminent Architects was published in 2011, and the accompanying exhibition was shown at the German Architecture Museum in Frankfurt, among other places. In 2015, the band Character Pictures - Encounters under five eyes followed , in which she reports on her encounters with famous people portrayed.
