Alejandro Castro Flores (born March 27, 1987 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican football player . He has been playing in the Mexican premier league for the UNAM Pumas since 2016, but is currently loaned out to league competitor Santos Laguna .

Career

Castro began his career with the CD Cruz Azul . He made his debut on the 17th match day of Apertura 2005/06. He made his international debut on the first day of the 2008/09 Champions League against the CD Marathón . Cruz Azul reached the final, but failed at league rivals CF Atlante . In 2010 they also reached the final, but failed again on a league competitor, this time on CF Pachuca . In January 2012 he was loaned to the league competitor CD Estudiantes Tecos for half a year . 2014 Castro was able to reach the final of the Champions League again with Cruz Azul and this time defeat the league rivals Deportivo Toluca and thus win the title. In 2015 it was awarded to the UNAM Pumas .

National team

Castro was nominated for the 2013 Gold Cup . He made his debut for the national team on matchday 1 of the tournament against Panama . Mexico were eliminated in the semi-finals.
