1 As Belize did not have a suitable stadium, Honduras was awarded a third place on the grid as the best Central American country of the previous year.
2 Costa Rica got a third place on the grid because the stadium of the Nicaraguan club Real Estelí did not meet the CONCACAF requirements. Originally the starting place was supposed to go to Panama, the second best Central American country last year, but Panama did not have a third suitable stadium itself.
3 The second best team in the Salvadoran Championships after Apertura and Clausura winner AD Isidro Metapán, CD Chalatenango , did not submit the registration papers on time, so that El Salvador's third best team, Luis Ángel Firpo, moved up.
